Gunning Patchwork weekend

The Gunning Patchwork Weekend is held in Gunning on the last weekend in June each year.  It provides a wonderful opportunity for people to come and work on a  project in the company of other likeminded patchworkers.  There are also special workshops on offer with experienced tutors Gunning Patchwork Weekend is now a well-loved, well-established tradition and a key event in the community calendar. For its first 18 years, GPW was a beautifully simple, grassroots event—run without grants, sponsorship, or external fundraising. Instead, it was built on the passion and generosity of a small, dedicated group of volunteers who poured their time and energy into creating something truly special. Year after year, GPW became known for its wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and the genuine spirit of friendship and sharing—all while offering exceptional value for money. It was the people who shaped it. Attendees returned each year with ideas, suggestions, and a shared desire to make the experience even better. Those ideas were welcomed, nurtured, and woven into the fabric of the event, allowing GPW to grow into something far beyond what anyone first imagined. When the 2020 event was cancelled, it marked a moment of reflection. Determined to protect the future of this much-loved gathering, the team reached out to Creative Gunning Inc. What followed was a natural and powerful alignment. With a shared vision and deep respect for what GPW had become, Creative Gunning Inc now offers support, guidance, and direction—while carefully preserving the independence and unique spirit of the GPW brand. The 2021 event marked a new chapter. It returned to the heart of what GPW has always been about: friendship, creativity, and connection. In a time shaped by COVID restrictions, it provided space for the new Committee to learn, adapt, and gently carry the event forward. In 2023, GPW celebrated an extraordinary milestone—21 years. It was a moment to pause and honour the dedication of the original committee, whose vision and hard work laid the foundation for everything GPW has become. The celebration was marked with a shared dinner, birthday cake, and the joyful retelling of stories—threads of memory stitched together across the years. Today, the GPW sub-committee warmly invites you to be part of this continuing story. Come to sew, to share, to reconnect with old friends, and to welcome new ones. Here, every stitch carries a story—and every year adds a new chapter.
