Maker Melanie is an alpaca farmer and felt maker. For over 14 years she been transforming the soft fleece from her alpaca herd into luxury alpaca felt slippers, hats, vests, and scarves under her Bbohe (bow-ee) label.
Melanie’s journey began with a love of natural fibres and the desire to create products that are gentle on the planet yet luxurious to wear. Using the ancient art of wet felting, she crafts each piece by hand with alpaca fleece, fine wool, and silk. The process uses rainwater, handmade olive oil soap, and traditional tools – no chemicals, no synthetic shortcuts.
Every item reflects the beauty of the Australian landscape, from earthy tones inspired by eucalypts to the jewel-like colours of native birds. Melanie works each piece individually, often creating seasonal collections that tell a story through colour, texture, and form.
From slippers and hats to vests, scarves, cowls, mittens, and artisan accessories, every piece is made sustainably using alpaca fibre grown on Melanie’s farm and felted by hand.
