Julie Perryman - Sewist and Quiltmaker

I’ve been sewing since I was ten years old, and quilting has been part of my life for forty plus years. What began as a childhood skill has morphed into a lifelong craft – from making my own clothes to creating quilts for my family and friends and longarm quilting other people’s quilt tops, with a particular eye for detail and craftsmanship.

Every stitch carries intention, care, and a little bit of joy. Reflecting my love of painting and art, I really enjoy choosing and matching fabrics to use in my creations. Practicality and colour are built into the smaller items I make, and I relish a challenge when requested for a bespoke item to meet a specific need. Above all, I especially enjoy it when people discover the warmth and comfort in a quilt that I’ve made.

My inspiration is enhanced by the outlook from my studio at Dalton, which is set in an applebox eucalypt woodland overlooking the Oolong River and home to multiple bird species and native fauna.
