Alice Pettirosso - Nullarbor Nights Artisan Knitwear

I mainly design and create knitwear, but I also enjoy making jewellery and painted artworks. What first drew me to knitwear was the opportunity to create a garment from the ground up—transforming beautiful natural fibres into something that is both practical and distinctive. I love the creative process and the endless possibilities that come with designing.

My greatest inspiration comes from creating garments that make the wearer feel wonderful and unique. As a designer, I pay close attention to proportion, silhouette and the way each piece comes together. I enjoy working with an amazing range of natural fibres sourced from Australia and around the world, each bringing its own character and beauty to the finished garment.

Many people are surprised to learn that I knit all of the fabric myself before constructing each garment. Once completed, many pieces are individually hand-dyed, creating colours and finishes that are unique to each design.

Outside my creative work, I have a passion for travel and have been fortunate to combine that with my career, exhibiting my knitwear at gift fairs in San Francisco and New York. In many ways, though, I can't separate my work from my life—they've always been closely intertwined.

My hope is that when someone takes one of my pieces home, they feel not only happy, but confident, comfortable and truly themselves. There is great satisfaction in knowing something I've created has become a cherished part of another person's life.
